ABOUT MICHAEL MADDOX
Born and raised in Daytona Beach, Michael Maddox moved to Los Angeles 26 years ago and was quickly introduced to the world of fashion. After much hard work, research, and dedication, Michael began producing runway fashion shows.
Michael Maddox’s work soon garnered acclaim as he went from producing couture fashion shows to emerging as an internationally renowned runway instructor for girls and guys. Today, Michael Maddox is regarded as a household name in the fashion industry, known for mentoring “new faces” as well as professional models–guiding them to make better choices of diet, wardrobe, and skincare–as well as building character, maintaining academic studies, and remaining loyal to their agents.
Several times a year, Michael Maddox travels the globe conducting fashion seminars for young/aspiring and professional models. Thousands of models, along with their parents and school directors, have the unique opportunity to gain remarkable insights into the fashion industry. As one Los Angeles Times reporter characterizes his work, Michael Maddox is “a cross between a cool uncle, a great teacher, and a supportive friend … he refers to female models as pumpkins or sweethearts and male models as cool breeze”—as recently seen in action on Lifetime’s “Models of the Runway” [see episode “My Pumpkin Pie,” airdate Oct.1, 2009].
Over the past two decades, Michael Maddox has trained and discovered models for every top agency in the world. Michael Maddox is responsible for Victoria’s Secret Supermodel Marisa Miller’s walk, and has enjoyed working with other celebrities such as Denzel and Pauletta Washington for “The Gathering Place”, supermodel/reality star Tyson Beckford, supermodel Omahyra, Lillie Price (daughter of Kirstie Alley), Riley Keough (daughter of Lisa Marie-Presley), Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill”), Mehcad Brooks (“Desperate Housewives”), Tom Welling (“Smallville”), NFL star Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta Falcons), NBA star Vince Carter (New Jersey Nets), U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Tara Lipinski, Eva Pigford (the first winner of “America’s Next Top Model”), Paula Abdul, and many more. Michael Maddox has also partnered with MTV’s “Made,” in which he was featured as a special guest celebrity coach to a So-Cal teen who aspired to be a model (Episode #81). Other television appearances include a guest spot on TLC’s “Faking It,” with numerous other network and cable reveals soon to come.
Looking back, Michael attributes the genesis of his success to Lily Buchanan, a mentor and friend; and Crista Klayman, director of L.A. Models Runway Division. Most recently, he draws inspiration from Dena Burton as he continues to work with top modeling agencies from LA to Italy.
